I just realised something recently; singapore is a garden city, not only for aesthestic beauty, but military reasons. only in a place like singapore can we blend FIBUA with jungle warefare. as i was walking home today, i could see so many places that we can stage enemy ambush; the "mini-jungle" next to D'Elias, the mini longkang running alongside sungei apiapi could also double as a trench, and the soldiers would not be seen, even 3-4metres away due to the gradient of the slope. and all these does not even include all the parks like eastcoast, pasir ris parks, the forested areas around the highways, etc....
anyway, had dinner with farhan 2 day. had a good rant about army. somehow i realise that no matter how much we detest it, we always come back to it. we are continually seeped in it for more than 2thirds a week, from the time we sleep till the time we wake up in an army camp, to the point army becomes part of our identity. it is something common that links all of us guys, wether it is sharing of our experience, complaining about the system, superiors, others, or talking about army in general, it always finds it's way back into our focus even out of camp.
now imagine if we could be that seeped into christian culture.
But as for me,
I watch in hope for the LORD,
I wait for God my Savior;
my God will hear me
